A Romániai Magyar Demokrata Szövetség elnöke, aki egyben a román kormány miniszterelnök-helyettese, úgy vélekedett, hogy már szeptemberben elfogadhatja a parlament a jogszabályt. Kelemen Hunor szerint a törvény lehetőséget teremt a székely zászló használatára. Nem tiltja ugyanis meg, hogy különböző önkormányzatok ugyanazt a zászlót fogadják el saját jelképüknek. Közben székely zászlót tűzött ki nagyváradi irodája erkélyére Tőkés László európai parlamenti képviselő. Bíró Gáspár 1958-ban született a romániai Tenkén, később Magyarországra költözött. Kiemelkedő szerepe volt az 1993-as kisebbségi törvény koncepciójának kidolgozásában. Deputy Prime Minister of Romania and leader of the RMDSZ Hunor Kelemen said that Parliament might adopt the law as early as September. Mr. Kelemen considers that the law on flags provides an opportunity for the use of the Szekler flag, since it does not prohibit different local governments using the same flag as their symbol. Meanwhile Member of the European Parliament László Tőkés flew a Szekler flag from the balcony of his office in Nagyvárad/Oradea. He said that 25 years ago the shared wishes of Romanians and Hungarians were collective freedom, democracy and narrowing the gap in living standards with the rest of Europe. | | |

|  | | Professor at Eötvös Loránd University and special rapporteur of the United Nations (UN) Gáspár Bíró – who died this year – has been posthumously awarded the Csaba Lőrincz Prize. Mr. Bíró was born in 1958 in Tenke/Tinca in Romania, later moving to Hungary. He played an important role in the concept development of the 1993 Act on minorities. Speaking at the event, President of the Hungarian Parliament's Committee of Foreign Affairs Zsolt Németh said that the turn of the millennium is considered the reform era for policy on Hungarian communities abroad. This period was the preparation stage of the "spring in policy for Hungarian communities abroad", which was realized with the adoption of the simplified naturalization procedure. | | |
